Boult Cummings attorney, Chris Puri, was quoted in an article discussing the state of Tennessee's revised strategy to allot more of the $1.2 billion it spends on long-term care from nursing homes to facilities like assisted-living communities. Currently, 98% of this $1.2 billion goes to nursing homes. Many nursing home facility executives are worried that this new plan will lead to fewer patients and reduced earnings. While it will be several years before the outcomes of this plan have fully developed, Puri states that, "Being an ostrich on this bill is not an option because it will have some impact on you regardless of where you are...[but] if you can diversify your business into multiple areas...that's your key to being successful."
