Nathan Ridley practices as Special Counsel and serves as the firm's Director of Government Relations.  In these roles, he manages the firm's government relations and lobbying practice, which includes representing client interests in matters pending before the Tennessee General Assembly, monitoring proposed legislation, and arranging appointments with government officials, cabinet officials, regulatory boards and government employees.  Nathan also handles regulatory matters for the firm's telecommunications, utilities, financial services, insurance and other corporate clients and assists the firm's Board of Governors in overseeing the firm's political fund.

Before joining Boult Cummings in 1998, Nathan spent eighteen years with the Tennessee General Assembly, serving as Senior Legislative Attorney in the Office of Legal Services before his departure.  In this position, he served as Special Counsel to the Speaker of the Senate.  He drafted bills, resolutions and amendments for consideration by members of the general assembly and served as counsel for a number of standing and special committees, including the House Commerce Committee and the Senate State and Local Government Committee.

Nathan is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations.  Over the past five years, he has provided the "Legislative Update" for the Nashville Bar Association's CLE program for state attorneys, as well as a similar update for the Tennessee Attorney General's office.  He currently is serving as chair of the Tennessee Bar Association's LAWPAC, that group's political fund.  Additionally, he serves on the board and as vice chair of the Tennessee Lobbyist Association.  Nathan is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® 2009   for government relations law.  He also is an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church where he frequently teaches older elementary classes.
