News Analysis: Preds Can't Exit by Writing a Big Check
Nashville Post

Related Attorney(s):   James L. Murphy

Boult Cummings attorney, Jim Murphy, commented on the lease between the Metro Sports Authority and the Nashville Predators, and how that may affect the possibility of the team's move.

One interpretation of the lease indicated that the Predators could simply buy its way out of the lease for $27 million rather than sell 14,000 tickets a night. However, Murphy, who helped negotiate the original lease, explained that this is not the case. The only way out for the Predators is the ticket clause or by putting itself in default. If the team did default, the authority could seek damages, but would likely push the Predators to comply with the lease, said Murphy.
